A Dream shared by two friends

Late one night in December, 2002, two women met in an online support group for folks with autoimmune disorders, one seeking help, the other holding out her hand. A friendship grew.

Within weeks the two revealed a secret held deep inside, one that they hadn't let anyone know. They each had the desire to start a support group, one specific for those with Thyroid Disorders, for people like themselves.. 

Neither had the 'strength of health' to be so brave as to do it.. but together, they knew they could. 

In just a few short weeks of meeting The Thyroid Support Group was born.

The thoughts and ideas and dreams they shared for how to set it up and how to best help others like themselves was so similar it was scary. Two women, living a country apart, knowing each other only a week, thinking so much alike.

It didn't take long to realize that an information source was needed, a place to refer to that would allow new group members, and folks online in general, to go for answers and guidance. Not a technical source, there were tons of those, something written in simpler terms, as two friends would share information when learning a new subject. A place to feel welcome, a place to feel at home... 

ThyroPhoenix was born

As time past and they became stronger friends they saw people coming to their new group that were as lost as they were, as clueless as they were, as miserable as they were, and it didn't take long to realize that it wasn't a rare occurrence that people were untreated, under treated, or mistreated for their thyroid disorder, it was happening ALL OVER THE WORLD!!

That was when the truly BIG dream was born.
The dream of a clinic.

Not just any clinic, but a very, very special clinic.

One of the friends has passed. The other stood alone, but never gave up the dream and started to share it's story with others.. Those others have come to share the dream. 

This website will allow us to share the dream with everyone.... so that one day it will be.
